City bizmen elated as Arora becomes Industry Minister
Newly elected AAP MLA from the Ludhiana West Assembly segment Sanjeev Arora on Thursday was provided the portfolios of Industry and Commerce and NRI Affairs, at Chandigarh. Industrialists in the city are elated after Arora has been given the Department of Industry as they feel that the pain of industry would be realised by the new minister from Ludhiana, who himself is an industrialist.
Talking to The Tribune, executive director of Monte Carlo Sandeep Jain said: ”We have been fortunate to have Sanjeev Arora from Ludhiana inducted as state Industry Minister. At a time when the industries have been moving out of the state, his appointment brings hope. As a seasoned industrialist, he understands the pain points on the ground. I’m confident that the government will chart a clear and focused roadmap to revive and grow the Punjab’s industrial ecosystem — and make the state a thriving hub again”.
Voicing similar views, Anoop Bector, managing director, Mrs Bector’s Food Specialties, said Arora would fully understand issues faced by the industry. He had knowledge of every issue related with the industry – be it power, labour, taxes, infrastructure, etc, which was too important for the growth of the industry. “It may be just a-year-and-a half for the next Vidhan Sabha elections, the time is enough to put back the industry in the state on track. The MLA has a great vision. He would be instrumental in creating job opportunities for the youth and will make
sure that the industry should not move out of the state,” he said.
“Arora will also help new start-ups and other initiatives. We are positive that the industry will get a boost under his leadership in the state,” he said.
Sanjeev Garg, MD, Garg Acrylics, however, said being a good human being, Arora was also accessible to the public during his tenure as MP. “He had got many issues of the industry resolved. We hope and are positive that the main issue of the industry being shifted to the other states will be tackled as Arora will be able to provide a hassle-free environment to the industry in the state. He would realise the pain of the industry and will do every possible effort to resolve issues,” he said.
Presidents of various industrial organisations, including Upkar Singh from the CICU, Charanjit Vishkarma from the UCPMA, Sudershan Jain from KAMAL and Rajeev Jain from FICO, have welcomed the induction of Arora as the Industries Minister.
They said being from Ludhiana and having an industrial background, he was the most suitable person to handle industrial issues. The industrialists hope that they would get better infrastructure and facilities in days to come.
