Breaking News: Dhirendra Shastri speaks out on preacher assaults, Warns against turning India into Pakistan

With the Kawad Yatra set to begin on July 11, two major issues have sparked national debate: the identification of Kawad routes and the recent assaults on religious preachers. For the first time, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the Peethadheeshwar of Bageshwar Dham, has spoken out on both matters. Addressing a large gathering on his birthday, Dhirendra Shastri condemned the attacks on preachers, saying, “Some people want to turn India into another Pakistan.” He stressed that the growing caste-based violence is a curse for the nation and likened it to a cancer that needs to be eradicated. He called on people to rise above caste pride and embrace unity. On the topic of celebrating birthdays, he urged people to follow Indian traditions, suggesting lighting lamps instead of blowing candles—a rejection of western cultural practices. When asked about his birthday resolution, he simply said his existing vows are enough, and he only wishes for their fulfillment. Supporters gathered in large numbers, chanting “Happy Birthday” and “Jai Shri Ram,” as Shastri waved from a building above, accepting their greetings. Many expressed their deep desire to meet and seek blessings from the spiritual leader.
