Carlsen Gets Trolled For 'Weaker Player Of The Tournament' Comment On Gukesh After Losing Again; Now Says, ‘Not Feeling The Flow’

Chess world champion D Gukesh proved why he is a big deal now in the chess world as the 19-year-old has once again defeated former world champion Magnus Carlsen, now at SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz tournament on July 3. Carlsen has faced two defeats in less than a month and has also received the heat for his reaction after the loss in the first game. Though this time the former world champion maintained his calm but is still getting trolled for his comments he made on Gukesh at the press conference before tournament.

This win marked Gukesh’s fifth straight one in the tournament and the Indian grandmaster has now took a sole lead of 10 points.

What Carlsen Said About Gukesh?

Carlsen's comments about Gukesh are going viral on the social media and also getting trolled for it. Carlsen said that Gukesh hasn't done anything to indicate that he is going to well in such a tournament. Further he said, "Playing him in this tournament I will approach it as if I’m playing one of the presumably weaker players," Carlsen had said ahead of the tournament while discussing his upcoming match with Gukesh.

Now after a convincing loss Carlsen has conveniently changed his remarks on young Indian player. In the post-match interview he said, "He’s doing incredibly well now (in the format). It’s a long way to go in the tournament, but winning five games in a row is no mean feat."

What Carlsen Said After The Loss?

Carlsen opened up on his defeat against Gukesh, said, "I have played kind of poorly the whole tournament and this time I got soundly punished."

He also said, "Honestly, I am not enjoying playing chess at all right now. I just, I don't feel any flow at all when I'm playing. I'm constantly hesitating and it's just really poor right now."
