Blind murder solved within 24 hrs, couple held

KISHTWAR, July 4: Police here today has solved a blind murder case within 24 hours by arresting a couple involved in the killing of a man over an alleged illicit relationship.
SSP Kishtwar, Naresh Singh said on July 2, 2025, information was received at Police Station Kishtwar that a vehicle of Eeco make bearing registration number JK17A/7539 was found parked along the roadside at Drab Sarthal with dead body of a man lying inside.
On this information inquest proceedings under Section 194 BNSS vide DD No. 06 dated 02.07.2025 were initiated and preliminary enquiry started.
Acting swiftly, cops led by Dy.SP Headquarters Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta, SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Inspector Firdous Ahmed and other officers rushed to the spot.
After preliminary enquiry, the deceased was identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Tara Chand, resident of Lower Bidda, Tehsil Nagseni, District Kishtwar.
During investigation, the SIT interrogated several suspects and based on the technical and human intelligence, it came to fore that the deceased was involved in illicit relationship with one Ujla Devi, wife of Sandeep Kumar, resident of Changam Sarthal, Kishtwar.
When Sandeep Kumar, son of Suram Chand, came to this, he conspired with his wife to eliminate Pawan. On July 1, 2025, Ujla called Pawan at her home to meet and when he reached there, both the accused caught hold of him and brutally assaulted him till he died.
The duo then placed the body of Pawan in his own vehicle and left it abandoned on the roadside to mislead the investigation.
The inquest proceedings were converted into FIR No. 156/2025 under Sections 103(1), 3(5) of BNS and both the accused were taken into custody and further investigation was ongoing.
