Modi’s foreign policy earned India enemies in all corners, says Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-BJP government’s foreign policy was “faulty” and had “earned India enemies in all corners”.

His criticism of Modi’s foreign policy has come at a time when the latter is on a week-long, five-nation tour.

“His foreign policy is not good. It is because of his policy that we have enemies in all corners. On one side, there is China and on the other, Pakistan. Today, Nepal is also distancing itself from us. Everybody is moving away from us,” he added.

He said this while addressing the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) executive committee meeting in Hyderabad.

The Congress chief also lambasted the BJP for raking up Emergency imposed in 1975, while ignoring its own “authoritarian tendencies” during the decade-long rule at the Centre.

The saffron party has been continuously cornering the Congress over the Emergency imposed in 1975 under the party’s tenure led by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Kharge also underscored the need for discipline and unity within the party and cautioned the party leaders against making statements at their will. “Everyone should follow the party’s code of conduct and maintain unity,” he said

He also asked party’s state president B Mahesh Kumar Goud to ensure that only sincere, disciplined and hardworking leaders were given prominent roles in the organisation.

Kharge also praised the Telangana Government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying: “We are on the right path, and the people of Telangana are witnessing the difference.”
