CITU, Kisan Sabha allege irregularities in functioning of four-lane companies

The protesters demanded immediate relief and compensation of Rs 5 crore each to the people whose houses have been either destroyed or damaged due to the company’s activities. They also demanded that an FIR be registered against the company officials and that the company be blacklisted.
The protesters announced that a massive convention will be held on July 7 in Shimla to mobilise people and affected individuals against the NHAI and Gawar Company. This issue will be highlighted during the nationwide strike on July 9 and the movement will be intensified from July 15.
Highlighting issues such non-compliance of labour laws, exploitation of workers, environmental damage and lack of employment opportunities for local people, the protesters emphasised the need for strict adherence to labour laws and regulations in the company’s operations.
The protesters alleged exploitation of workers, flagging long working hours, low wages and poor living conditions. They also emphasised the environmental damage caused by the company’s activities, including unscientific cutting, mining and dumping.
The protesters demanded that local people be given 80 per cent of the employment opportunities in the company, as per the state’s industrial policy.
