Passport camp in Chamba from July 8
To facilitate residents seeking to apply for passports, the Regional Passport Office, Shimla, will organise a three-day special camp in Chamba from July 8 to July 10. The initiative aims to bring passport services closer to the public through a mobile van facility.
Assistant Commissioner PP Singh said the camp would be conducted under the supervision of the Regional Passport Office, Shimla, and will be held at Chaugan, near the post office. A mobile passport van, equipped with all necessary facilities typically found at a Passport Seva Kendra, will be stationed at the site to serve applicants.
The mobile van will process up to 50 applications per day, allowing citizens to complete their passport application process locally without having to travel to major centres. The van will offer services including application submission, biometric data capture, and document verification.
To ensure smooth operation of the camp, the Assistant Commissioner stated that relevant departmental officers have been instructed to make all necessary arrangements for public convenience. This initiative is expected to greatly benefit residents of Chamba and surrounding areas by saving time and effort, and enhancing access to essential passport services right at their doorstep, he said.
