CT Group, Teikyo varsity team up on silkworm–mycology research

In a significant step towards international academic collaboration, CT Group has initiated a joint research project with the prestigious Teikyo University Institute of Medical Mycology (TIMM), Japan.

The study, led by Professor Vir Vikram and research scholar Roy from CT University, focuses on the role of silkworms in the field of medical mycology. The project examines the developmental stages of silkworms and their interactions with fungal pathogens—offering valuable insights into host-pathogen dynamics, resistance mechanisms and fungal biology.

During their time at Teikyo University, the CT University team collaborated closely with Dr Atsushi Miyashita, a leading expert in the field. They also engaged in academic discussions with Prof Koichi Makimura, Director at TIMM. The research has benefited from access to Teikyo’s state-of-the-art lab infrastructure and advanced methodologies—renowned globally for contributions in diagnostics, antifungal drug resistance, and molecular analysis of pathogenic fungi.

The collaboration was initiated during a formal visit by the CT University delegation, backed by Dr Manbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor of CT University. He remarked, “Teikyo University’s work in mycological research aligns with CT University’s mission of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and global engagement.”
