Breaking News: Massive Fire at Karol Bagh Mall in Delhi, Blaze Rages for Over 12 Hours | ABP NEWS
A massive fire broke out at the Vishal Mega Mart in Delhi’s busy Karol Bagh area on Thursday evening and continued to rage for more than 12 hours. Despite the efforts of 18 fire tenders and hours of operations, the fire had still not been completely brought under control by Friday morning. The blaze reportedly started around 6:45 PM and quickly spread across all four floors of the large commercial building, which includes a basement, ground floor, and three upper floors. Initially, only a few fire tenders arrived at the scene, but as the fire intensified, additional units were deployed. Authorities suspect a short circuit in the basement could be the cause, although an official investigation is still underway. There is also concern about the presence of oil-based materials that may have worsened the blaze. Surrounding shops were evacuated, electricity was cut off, and the area was sealed to prevent further danger. One person was reportedly rescued in critical condition, raising fears of possible casualties. Questions are now being raised over the fire safety norms followed by the mall, and whether necessary clearances like the NOC were in place. Officials are investigating potential violations.
