Australian captain Pat Cummins once again reminded the cricketing world that he is more than just a world-class fast bowler — he’s also a phenomenal presence on the field. On the second day of the second Test against the West Indies at St George’s, Grenada, Cummins pulled off a breathtaking one-handed catch to dismiss Keacy Carty, leaving both fans and commentators stunned.

In the ninth over of the West Indies innings, Cummins delivered a sharp ball to Carty, who looked to defend quickly and prevent an opportunity. The ball took the inside edge of the bat and ricocheted off his pad, appearing to dip low and head straight for the turf. But in a moment of pure athletic brilliance, Cummins charged in from the bowler’s end and launched himself to his right, managing to scoop the ball inches from the ground with his fingers comfortably underneath. The field umpires also had to refer to the third umpire to check the dismissal’s validity. Not only did that masterpiece of a catch lift the team’s spirits, but it also reshaped the projected flow of the session.

The wicket was crucial for the Baggy Greens, as Carty was starting to maintain composure and settle in at the crease. Although Australia struggled with the bat earlier and failed to extend their first-innings lead, bowled out for 289, the team made up for it with energy in the field. The skipper’s effort projected the team’s fight and paid off with a much-needed dismissal.

The teams will continue playing on the third day, with the Aussies holding a 45-run lead and 8 wickets in hand.
