Holiday 2026: There is great news for the officers and employees working in the central government offices across the country including Chhattisgarh. The central government has released the list of holidays on festivals and other occasions falling in the year 2026. This announcement has been issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT).
According to the order issued, the central government employees will get a total of 12 public holidays (Gazetted Holidays) in the year 2026. Apart from this, 12 optional holidays have also been announced, out of which employees can choose any three holidays as per their convenience.
However, this time the employees will get one holiday less on Diwali (Holiday 2026). The reason for this is that in the year 2026, Diwali is falling on 6 November, which is a Sunday. In such a situation, due to Sunday already being a weekly holiday, there will be no additional holiday for Diwali.
