Explore feasibility of green hydrogen buses: CM to HRTC
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to improve transport services, keeping in view the tough geographical topography. The Chief Minister, while chairing a high-level meeting of the corporation, said that 297 type-I electric buses would be made operational by March, 2026, while the procurement for another 30 type-II e-buses was underway.
He directed the HRTC officers to explore the feasibility of introducing green hydrogen-propelled buses in the near future. He also issued directions for the development of a single bus pass system to apply for concessional passes and developing a real-time bus monitoring system and adopt digital technology in its functioning for better efficiency and effective management. He directed the officials to implement the e-office system at the HRTC headquarters. “An HRTC workshop will be set up at Theog in Shimla district,” he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also gave valuable suggestions during the meeting and appreciated the role of the employees of the organisation.
