1st State Highway Trauma Centre to come up at Sunam
The first State Highway Trauma Centre will come up in Sunam, about 15 km from Sangrur. The construction of the centre, to be set up at a cost of Rs 5 crore, is likely to be completed in eight months.
The foundation stone of the 10-bed trauma centre was laid at the Sunam Sub-Divisional Hospital by Cabinet minister Aman Arora.
At present, such trauma centres are operational only in five cities, all situated along national highways in Jalandhar, Khanna, Ferozepur, Pathankot and Fazilka.
The minister said the trauma centre at Sunam would be the first of its kind on a state highway.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended among others by SDM Manjeet Kaur, Sangrur Civil Surgeon Dr Sanjay Kamra and Municipal Council President Nishan Singh Tony.
