Punjab: Class XI, XII students to be imparted marketing skills from next session
State Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Saturday said business and marketing skills would be imparted to students of Classes XI and XII from the next session under the Punjab Young Entrepreneurs Scheme.
Addressing the Business Blasters Expo-2025 here, he said students were being encouraged to become job creators instead of job seekers. He said 10 student-led ventured selected during the expo would be given financial assistance. He claimed that the government had “started a new era of student entrepreneurship with a pilot project in 30 schools”, where students were asked to pitch their business ideas.
“One shining example is a girl belonging to a below poverty line family of a government in school in Mullanpur Dakhan, who created decorative flower pots that sold 20 times their cost in Ludhiana,” he said. “Similarly a youth from my own constituency now buys T-shirts from Gurugram and resells them via Instagram, earning Rs 50,000 a month,” the minister added.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia termed the scheme a “milestone”, stressing that students must gain real-world learning.
