JDA conducts anti-encroachment drive at Khanpur, demolishes 9 illegal structures

JAMMU, July 5: The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) today carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Khanpur area of Nagrota and demolished nine unauthorized structures built on the Government land.
The operation was conducted at Khasra number169, where a sizeable portion of JDA-owned land had been encroached upon.

The drive was supervised by Director Land Management, JDA, Garbi Rashid, and Tehsildar JDA, Rashi Dutta, with ground support from Jammu and Kashmir Police team led by SDPO Nagrota, Vinod Kumar and SHO Nagrota, Parvaiz Ahmed, along with other enforcement and support staff of JDA.
The demolition was carried out smoothly and in accordance with legal procedures.
Police teams and enforcement staff were deployed on the ground to ensure law and order during the operation.
JDA authorities said the department is following a zero-tolerance policy against encroachments.
They reiterated that Government land is meant for public use and planned development, and any illegal occupation will be dealt with strictly.
The retrieved land will be fenced and boundary-marked to prevent further encroachments.
Legal action is also being initiated against habitual offenders and the public has been advised to verify land ownership and usage permissions before carrying out any construction or transaction.
