Navi Mumbai News: UP Godman Booked For Forcing Nude Occult Ritual, Circulating Photos via WhatsApp
A self-styled godman from Uttar Pradesh has been booked by Vashi Police for allegedly forcing his wife and her mother to perform a nude occult ritual and later circulating their private photos via WhatsApp. The accused, Abhishek Tiwari (30), is currently absconding, and a police manhunt is underway.
According to police, the 42-year-old complainant, a resident of Sector 15, Vashi, approached the authorities after discovering that her husband had sent her nude photos, taken during an alleged occult ritual, to her father and brother in an attempt to defame her.
The complainant had married Abhishek Tiwari, a self-proclaimed spiritual healer from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, five years ago following her divorce from her first husband. They lived together until a few months ago, when she moved back to Navi Mumbai to stay with her mother.
The issue arose when the woman sought her husband’s help for her brother’s delayed marriage. The accused allegedly proposed a ritual that required the complainant and her mother to strip naked and participate in an "aghori puja" (occult practice). He also asked them to photograph the ritual and send the images to him.
"When the complainant refused to travel to Ajmer, Rajasthan, as further instructed by the accused, Tiwari reportedly retaliated by sending the explicit images to her family members via WhatsApp," said a police officer from Vashi police station.
Following the complaint, Vashi Police registered a case under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013 (Sections 2(1) and relevant sections of BNS and IT Act.
Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Dhumal confirmed the registration of the case and stated that efforts to locate and arrest the accused are ongoing.
