Kolkata Gold Prices Mirror National Rally; 24K At Rs 9,883 Per Gram
Gold prices in Kolkata continued to mirror the national trend on Saturday, holding steady after a robust rally earlier this week. The price of 22-carat gold in the city stood at Rs 9,060 per gram, while 24-carat gold was priced at Rs 9,883 per gram, according to Goodreturns.
These levels reflect the broader surge in gold prices observed nationwide, driven by global economic concerns, a weakening dollar, and anticipation ahead of the US tariff decision due July 9.
Data released by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) indicates that 24-carat gold rose by Rs 1,135 per 10 grams over the week. The metal was priced at Rs 95,576 per 10 grams on June 30, before climbing to Rs 97,021 by July 4. The 22-carat variant also followed suit, posting a gain of Rs 1,131 to close at Rs 96,633 per 10 grams. This marks a continuation of gold’s stellar performance in 2025, with a 26 per cent return registered over the first six months of the year.

Silver Strengthens Further on Supply Pressure
Silver also witnessed impressive gains over the week. The white metal climbed from Rs 105,510 per kilogram on June 30 to Rs 107,580 on July 4, a rise of Rs 2,070. Earlier in the month, on June 18, silver had reached a record high of Rs 109,550 per kilogram.
Despite gold’s strong run this year, silver surpassed it in June, recording a global monthly gain of 9.41 per cent, while gold advanced by only 0.4 per cent. According to Prathamesh Mallya, DVP–Research, Non-Agri Commodities and Currencies at Angel One Ltd., “Silver outperformed gold in June… because of the fall in gold-silver ratio from over 100 to around 92-93… combined with the critical $35/ounce mark that triggered momentum and technical buying on breakout.”
Price Comparison Across Indian Cities
While Kolkata's gold rates matched those of most metropolitan cities, a few variations were observed. In Delhi and Lucknow, 22-carat gold was priced slightly higher at Rs 9,075 per gram, and 24-carat gold stood at Rs 9,898 per gram. Cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Chennai recorded identical rates to Kolkata — Rs 9,060 for 22-carat and Rs 9,883 for 24-carat gold.
With international market cues remaining volatile, and the dollar under pressure, precious metals may remain in focus in the days ahead. Investors and consumers alike are closely watching how upcoming global developments could influence pricing momentum in the bullion space.
