Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia sent to judicial custody, to be in Nabha jail till July 19

A Mohali court today sent SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia to judicial custody after his four-day remand ended. Majithia has been sent to the New Jail, Nabha, till July 19.

The Vigilance Bureau (VB) had arrested Majithia from his Amritsar house on June 25 in a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was brought to Mohali the next day. The court had first sent him to a seven-day VB remand, which was then extended by four days.

Sources said Majithia was taken to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday to gather evidence related to Saraya Industries.

Despite it being a Sunday, heavy police presence ensured tight security in the courts complex since morning. The police also detained several prominent SAD leaders and workers in different parts of the state in the morning to prevent them from coming towards Mohali.
