Chopper Service Remains Suspended For Third Day In Fog Hit Vaishno Devi Hills

JAMMU, July 6: The chopper service from Katra to Sanjhi Chat remained suspended due to fog and bad weather for the third consecutive day today for the pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine nestled in Trikuta Hills in Katra town of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Due to bad weather and dense fog in the Trikuta Hills, the chopper service from Katra to Sanji Chhat remained suspended for the third day,” said an official.
He said that the pilgrims are trekking on foot and by pithoo/palanquin (palki) and pony services to reach the Bhawan.
The chopper service will resume only after weather improves, he added.
He, however, said that the Shrine Board staff has also been deployed along the track to guide pilgrims and provide assistance in case of any urgent situation.
At present, 12,000 to 15,000 pilgrims are arriving daily at Katra base camp to reach the Bhawan and pay obeisance at the holy shrine. (Agencies)
