New York: In a major political development in United States politics, President Donald Trump’s close ‘friend’ and the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, announced his new political party – the ‘America Party’ – on Saturday. He launched the party following a public fallout with the US President, his former ally. Musk had warned Trump that if his ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ passed through the House of Congress, a new party would be formed in the country, claiming that the bill would make America bankrupt.
The new party aimed at challenging the ‘one-party system’, which Musk described “formed to give you back your freedom”.

Musk, a day after, asking people on X whether a new political party should be created, on Saturday announced that “Today, the America Party is created to give you your freedom back.”
Why Did Elon Musk Oppose Big Beautiful Bill?
Earlier the SpaceX chief expressed his disappointment for Donald Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’. During an interview to CBS news, he stated that the bill a massive expenditure and it also weakens the effort of the efficiency department. It increases the federal deficit, Musk added.
Can Musk Run For The President In 2028?
Following the announcement of the new political party, the speculations started hovering whether the Tesla CEO would run for the top post in 2028?
Replying to an X user’s question, “Midterms or 2028?” Musk replied, “Next year”.
Notably, the US constitutional law prevents Musk from running for the top post. As per the Constitution, presidential candidates should be a natural-born citizen, a requirement Musk does not meet.
Last year, he even openly acknowledged his ineligibility. “I cannot be president because of my African birth.” He also said at the time, “My grandfather was American, but I was born in Africa, so I cannot be president,” Musk had said.
