Rohtak health varsity VC gets lifetime achievement award

Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, marked a proud moment as its Vice-Chancellor, Dr HK Aggarwal, was selected among five distinguished physicians across India to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Innovative Physician Forum (IPF). Among them, he was the only recipient from Haryana to be conferred with the prestigious honour.

The award was conferred on Dr Aggarwal by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during the International Conference IPF Medicon 2025, held in New Delhi on Saturday, in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (UK). The event, attended by medical professionals from India and abroad, was centered on the theme “The future of internal medicine: Education, research, and practice in a changing world.”

“Dr Aggarwal and four others were selected for the award in recognition of their selfless service in medicine, unwavering dedication to patient welfare and commitment to medical innovation and education. Dr Aggarwal was also recently elected national president of the Indian Academy of Clinical Medicine, a testament to his leadership and excellence in the field,” said Dr Deepak Jain, senior faculty member from the Department of Medicine at the PGIMS.

He said with an illustrious career spanning over 35 years, Dr Aggarwal had served in various administrative roles at the PGIMS and the UHSR. He had significantly contributed to the university’s academic and clinical advancements. He was previously awarded the Lifetime Achievement ‘Master Teacher’ Award by the Association of Physicians of India in January 2025.

Dr Aggarwal also holds a Fellowship in CAPD from the International Society of Nephrology at Toronto Western Hospital, Canada, and has presented his research internationally in countries, including Germany, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Brazil, Italy, and Turkey, said Dr Jain.

Dr SK Singhal, Director of the PGIMS, congratulated Dr Aggarwal on his achievement, stating, “His recognition has brought national prestige to our institution. He has also played a pivotal role in bringing transparency and reforms to the medical examination system.”

Dr Kundan Mittal, Medical Superintendent of the PGIMS, echoed the sentiments, adding that Under Dr Aggarwal’s leadership, numerous patient-friendly initiatives was launched, and the institution had made noteworthy progress in medical education and healthcare delivery.
