WATCH: Villagers Sit In Muddy-Potholes to Protest Poor Roads In Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh residents came up with an unusual way to protest the poor condition of roads, as they sat inside the water-filled potholes.

The villagers hail from Kharrhohi, Udaipura, and Dhanupura, near Khajuraho and were tired of the poor condition of roads which prompted them to hold this unique protest on Saturday.

Villagers sing kirtan in potholes

In order to draw the administration's attention towards their problems, they sat in the muddy potholes and sang devotional songs. They also demanded immediate repair of the damaged road.

Due to continuous rains, large potholes have been created on the road which has made travel extremely difficult and dangerous, especially for school children and emergency services.

‘Politicians made fake promises’

According to villagers, the road is now almost unusable.

Local resident Praveen Jain said that despite repeated complaints, no action has been taken. “During elections, leaders promise to fix the roads, but once the elections are over, no one cares,” he added.

The villagers also recorded videos of their protest and shared them to alert the local administration and officials. They warned that if the road is not repaired soon, they will carry out bigger protests in the coming days.
