Bank Holidays Next Week: Banks across India will be shut on Saturday and Sunday in the coming week. However, officially, there are 7 days listed as bank holidays in the month of July. In addition, the second and fourth Saturdays are considered holidays in both public and private banks across India, with Sundays being the regular weekly off.
Notably, the list of bank holidays is issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and state governments, considering all operational requirements, local and national occasions and religious celebrations. After taking into account all cultural observances, the final announcement is made by the central bank on its official website, with notifications to other financial institutions and local banks.

Bank Holidays: State-wise holiday list for July 2025
- Thursday July 3: Agartala will celebrate Kharchi Puja due to which public and private banks will be closed on July 3. Kharchi Puja. Kharchi Puja is a prominent festival in Tripura celebrating the fourteen deities called Chaturdasha Devata.
- Saturday, July 5: Banks will be closed in Jammu and Srinagar on account of Guru Hargobind’s Birthday.
- Sunday, July 6: Nationwide weekly off for all banks.
- Saturday, July 12: Nationwide bank holiday on account of second Saturday of the month.
- Sunday, July 13: Nationwide weekly off for all banks.
- Monday, July 14 – All banks in Shilong will be closed due to Beh Deinkhlam – a Meghalyan festival celebrated by the Jaintia Tribe.
- Wednesday, July 16: Banks will be closed in Dehradun because of Harela—a widely celebrated festival by people in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and parts of Himachal Pradesh.
- Thursday, July 17: All banks in Shilong will be closed to observe the death anniversary of U Tirot Singh—once chief of Khasi tribe.
- Saturday, July 19: Banks in Agartala will be shut because of Ker Puja—a festival dedicated to Ker a region deity who protects the people of Tripura.
- Saturday, July 26: Nationwide bank holiday on account of fourth Saturday of the month.
- Sunday, July 27: Nationwide weekly off for all banks.
- Monday, July 28: Gangtok will have all banks closed on the account of Drukpa Tshe-zi—a Buddhist festival that marks the day Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon.
Bank Holidays Next Week: What To Do In Case Of Emergency?
Even on national holidays, the online banking mode and net banking will be accessible to people unless there is some technical issue. In case of a cash emergency, people can use ATMs. The official apps of banks and UPI will also function as usual.
RBI is responsible for releasing the annual calendar of bank holidays in accordance with the Negotiable Instruments Act for all banks. The provision is concerned with the issuing of checks and promissory notes. Therefore, any transactions that include these instruments are not available during the official holidays.
It should be noted that the official dates for the holidays might be different across states due to different regional and local requirements. Therefore, it is advisable to check for the holiday schedule or list of your local bank branch beforehand.
