Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: CSMC Spends ₹8–10 Lakh Daily On Demolition Drive
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has initiated road widening work in the city. The corporation has so far spent ₹40 lakh on the demolition of properties coming in the way of widening. CSMC incurred around ₹8 to 10 lakh each day for implementing the demolition drive. The rent of the JCBs, poclaines, trucks and food for the officers, employees, and police on duty, along with other aspects, require a significant amount of money.
Between June 4 and 15, a total of 418 properties were demolished on Beed Bypass Road for the 60-meter road widening. Later, a severe demolition drive was carried out in Mukundwadi, Chikalthana, Paithan and Padegaon. More than 3,000 constructions were demolished in these areas. The drive is still being carried out in various parts of the city. On Monday, the demolition drive was implemented on the Delhi Gate to Harsul T-point Road.
During the drive, CSMC's 12 JCBs required around 500 litres of diesel daily, 15 trucks needed 200 litres, and the officers’ vehicles required around 100 litres. Hence, around 800 litres of diesel were needed each day. Similarly, the JCBs and poclaines were taken on a rental basis. The rent for each JCB is Rs 1,000 per hour, for each poclain around Rs 2,000 per hour, and a long-reach poclain around Rs 7,000 per hour. Additionally, considering other minor expenses and the food for the officers, employees, policemen, and others, the total expenditure amounts to around ₹10 lakh daily, sources said.
