Tejashwi Yadav's 'Acting' Jibe On Chirag Paswan: 'Comments On Rising Crimes In Bihar, But Supports Same Govt'

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday targeted Union Minister Chirag Paswan after he expressed concern over the law and order situation in the state following businessman Gopal Khemka's murder.

Paswan, who is a key ally of the NDA in Bihar, criticised the CM Nitish Kumar-led governemnt in the state over the "collapsed law and order" after Khemka was shot dead outside his house. Reacting to this, Yadav took a jibe at Paswan saying that the latter "comments on the rising crimes in the state, but will also support the same government."

"Chirag (Paswan) clearly has no ideology. He comments on the crimes happening (in the state), but will also support the government. He supports those who are destroying the Constitution...He has done nothing for Bihar, neither as a minister nor otherwise. He’s just acting,” the RJD leader remarked.

The Leader of the Opposition in the state also said that Paswan is currently in conflict with his ally Jitan Ram Manjhi and that he does not know whether he would contest the Bihar polls this year.

"I don’t know what Chirag Paswan will or won’t do going forward. He is currently in a conflict with Jitan Ram Manjhi. There is an ongoing issue between him and Jitan Ram Manjhi, but I don’t know what the outcome of that is. Chirag Paswan talks nonsense. He has been a Member of Parliament twice—can he tell us what he has done? Whether Chirag Paswan contests elections or not, I have no idea," he added.

The RJD leader then went on to slam Nitish Kumar over the rising crime in the state, saying that the CM had "sold his morality" and claiming "demon rule" in Bihar. He alleged that criminals were being released from jails under BJP and CM Nitish Kumar's rule and that despite the state's situation, "no action was being taken against the lawlessness and crimes."

"...crime is rising in the state, but the CM hasn't spoken a word about it. A CM dear to PM Modi, Amit Shah and Chirag Paswan is silent. There is a 'demon rule' in Bihar... No action is being taken against the lawlessness, the murders and the crimes that are happening in the state... It's unfortunate that whenever the BJP and CM Nitish Kumar come to power, criminals are released from the jails... We don't need such an inactive government in the state," Yadav said.

He further claimed that transfers were being made in Bihar on the basis of caste and that no one, including police, businessmen, or engineers, were safe in the state, since the "authority of the government has collapsed".

Meanwhile, several businessmen in Bihar flagging security concerns in the aftermath of the murder of industrialist Gopal Khemka, who was shot dead outside his house by an unidentified bike-borne man. The Bihar government has assured  that all such issues will be looked into and addressed and security will be given to the business community as per norms.
