Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is trying to leave English football and find potential buyers in the Italian Serie A. In a latest report, it is being rumoured that Juventus may consider approaching United with a swap deal if the English international Sancho is open to take a pay cut.
It is highly unlikely that even the most affluent Serie A sides, including Juventus, could match Sancho's current salary at Old Trafford. Sancho, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, is in good shape ahead of the summer transfer window but remains unsettled at the Theatre of Dreams despite Ruben Amorim replacing Erik ten Hag as manager. Following a fallout with the Dutch manager, Sancho's refusal to apologise led to him becoming a pariah within the squad. He was subsequently banished, first to Borussia Dortmund and then to Chelsea, on loan moves. Chelsea, however, opted not to activate the buy option attached to his loan deal, despite his two goals and five assists in the UEFA Conference League.
Manchester United are currently undergoing a squad overhaul and are looking to sell multiple players to fund new recruitment. Juventus may consider selling their Brazilian midfielder, Douglas Luiz, to Manchester United in exchange for Sancho's services, according to a report from TeamTalk. The Turin club can reportedly afford to pay no more than £160,000 per week to the 25-year-old, significantly less than his £250,000 per week salary at Manchester United.
The asking price for Sancho, who joined the Red Devils in 2021 for a reported transfer fee of £73 million (€85 million), is now said to be £25 million. By offering 27-year-old Douglas Luiz as part of the deal, the former Serie A champions hope to reduce the transfer sum to somewhere between £15 million and £20 million, TeamTalk reported.
However, it was not immediately known if former Aston Villa star Luiz is a player appreciated by Ruben Amorim. Also complicating matters is Juventus' reported interest in Tottenham's Yves Bissouma. If Spurs agree to hand over their Ivorian defensive midfielder in exchange for Luiz's services, then the entire situation could change, the story claimed. If Bissouma becomes available, bringing him on board would become Juve's priority, and Sancho's hopes of becoming a Bianconeri could diminish.
