Traffic accidents claim 215 lives in Nepal in 1 month
KATHMANDU, July 7 : Fifteen children and 200 adults were killed in traffic accidents across Nepal between May 15 and June 14, the police said today.
A total of 4,240 others were injured in 2,911 accidents involving 4,416 vehicles, with 580 of them in serious conditions, Nepal Police said in a report.
Motorcycles were involved in most of the mishaps, followed by cars, noted the report.
“Overspeed, drunk driving and jaywalking are the major causes of accidents,” the report said, adding the police collected 94.13 million Nepali rupees (689,519 U.S. dollars) in fines for violations of traffic rules during the period.
