Patna: In the latest development in the high-profile murder case of Bihar businessman Gopal Khemka, Vikas alias Raja, the second accused in the case, has been killed in an encounter. As per reports, the encounter took place in Peer Damaria of the Malsalami area. The shooter, Umesh, who carried out the murder, was arrested by the police on Monday. It is being reported that Vikas was also present with Umesh at the crime scene. The Senior Superintendent of Police is expected to hold a press conference on the matter later today.

Cops arrested the main shooter, Umesh, on Monday. According to sources, Umesh opened fire at the businessman on July 4, leading to his death. Cops also detained two other suspects on Monday and are interrogating them for more revelations in the case.

Security camera footage indicates that the attack on Khemka was premeditated. A hired assailant, identified as Umesh, waited near Khemka’s home and shot him as he arrived, subsequently escaping.

On Monday, Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar stated that police are investigating the case from all possible angles, adding that the entire case will be revealed in a day or two.

Khemka was a prominent businessman of Bihar. He was shot dead in Patna outside his home in the Gandhi Maidan police station area. The assailants came from nowhere, opened fire at Khemka, and fled the scene immediately after the attack. The incident took place at around 11.40 pm.

Gopal Khemka was the owner of Magadh Hospital and was associated with the city’s social organisations. The gruesome murder has sent shockwaves across the state.

It is worth mentioning that the murder has taken place months ahead of the Bihar assembly polls, which are expected to take place in October.
