Elon Musk Confirms Grok 4 Launch on July 9: What To Expect from xAI’s New Flagship Model
Elon Musk has officially confirmed the launch date and time for xAI’s next-generation language model, Grok 4. The release is scheduled for July 9 at 8 PM Pacific Time, which is 8:30 AM IST on July 10. The announcement came via a post on X (formerly Twitter), where Musk wrote, “Grok 4 release livestream on Wednesday at 8pm PT @xAI.”
This confirmation follows Musk’s earlier statement that Grok 4 would arrive “just after July 4.” While previous timelines—including a promised Grok 3.5 rollout in May for SuperGrok users—led to some skepticism, xAI appears to be moving directly ahead to version 4 in an increasingly competitive AI landscape.
Grok 4 is said to be a substantial upgrade in the large language model space. According to early descriptions from xAI’s developer console and user posts on X, Grok 4 is rumoured to deliver enhanced performance in natural language understanding, mathematical reasoning, and coding support.
The model is expected to build on Grok 3’s capabilities. With Grok 4, xAI aims to surpass these results, focusing on improvements in first-principles reasoning and complex problem-solving. Reports suggest the model will initially support text-based tasks, with plans to introduce multimodal features like vision and image generation in future iterations.
One developer console message describes Grok 4 as “our latest and greatest flagship model.” With the official release around the corner, Grok 4 may mark a significant step forward for xAI’s ambitions to rival top-tier models from companies like OpenAI and Anthropic.
