Punjab News: Opposition Hits Out At AAP Govt After Abohar Businessman’s Murder, Flags Rise In Gang Killings

Chandigarh: Opposition parties in Punjab have slammed the chief minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for what they held, the rising crime by gangsters.

Condemning the gruesome murder of Abohar town’s prominent businessman Sanjay Verma on Monday, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring alleged that the AAP government’s overall failure has emboldened the criminals and gangsters who were going scot-free after committing heinous crimes in the state.

Referring to recent spurt in the targeted killings by the gangsters allegedly for ransom, the PCC president expressed deep concern over the state of affairs and warned that the deteriorating law and order situation will further cripple the economy of the state.

Senior Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, said ``the law and order situation in Punjab has plummeted to an all-time low under Bhagwant Mann’s home ministry and it is imperative that he takes responsibility for this crisis and resigns from his position as home minister,’’.

Numerous high-profile assassinations have occurred since the AAP came to power. Notable incidents include the shocking murder of Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala, as well as the brutal killing of Kabbadi player Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian. Additionally, several political leaders and businessmen were targeted during the AAP regime. Alarmingly, justice has yet to be served in any of these cases, Bajwa held.
