Navi Mumbai News: NMMC Conducts Deep-Cleaning Drives At Religious Sites Across City Under ‘Safai Apnao – Bimari Bhagao’ Campaign
Navi Mumbai: As part of its ongoing month-long ‘Safai Apnao – Bimari Bhagao’ campaign, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out an extensive deep-cleaning drive at religious sites across all eight administrative divisions of the city. The initiative is aimed at promoting hygiene and public health by involving citizens in cleanliness-focused activities.
On Tuesday, the drive focused specifically on temples and other places of worship, witnessing enthusiastic participation from local residents, temple authorities, civic officials, and sanitation workers.
In Belapur, the ancient Shri Ram Mandir in Belapur village was cleaned as part of the campaign. Similarly, a thorough cleanliness drive was carried out at the Sector 20 Balaji Mandir in Nerul.
In Vashi, the focus was on two major religious sites—Sector 8 Shiv Mandir and Sector 15 Buddha Vihar—where local devotees and civic staff came together for the drive. In Turbhe, the historic Datt Mandir in Sanpada saw active involvement from devotees who joined hands with municipal workers.
Koparkhairane’s ancient Pavneshwar Shiv Mandir was another highlight, with temple trust members and representatives from the Sharadai Foundation working alongside NMMC officials and sanitation teams.
In Ghansoli, deep-cleaning was undertaken at the Karandevi and Mahadev temples in Savli village, while in Airoli, the Sector 15 Ichhapurti Ganesh Mandir saw participation from a large number of devotees and residents.
The campaign also reached Digha, where the Durga Mata Mandir at Kanhaiya Nagar was the site of another successful cleaning initiative, supported by civic teams and local citizens.
According to NMMC, the initiative received widespread support and appreciation from residents and religious leaders alike. Beyond improving sanitation at key religious sites, the campaign has been instrumental in raising awareness about hygiene and the importance of collective responsibility for public health.
NMMC officials have confirmed that the ‘Safai Apnao’ campaign will continue throughout the month, with upcoming cleanliness drives and awareness activities planned in schools, markets, and residential areas across Navi Mumbai.
