Pune-Bengaluru Expressway: The Completion Date And The Way Tt Will Be A 'DISGUISED BLESSING' For The People Living In 12 Districts
Pune: With the much-anticipated Pune-Bengaluru Expressway, travel between Pune and Bengaluru will be shortened from 15 hours to just 7 hours, revolutionizing travel and regional connectivity. It will cut the two cities' distance by roughly 95 kilometers. By 2028, the ambitious 8-lane corridor should be finished, according to a report. In addition to three districts in Maharashtra (Pune, Satara, and Sangli), the expressway will cross nine districts in Karnataka (Bengaluru Rural, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Vijayanagar, Koppal, Gadag, Bagalkot, and Belgaum).
Bharatmala Pariyojana project Cost
The Bharatmala Pariyojana project, which is expected to cost more than ₹50,000 crore, is intended to replace NH-48 with a high-speed option. Vehicles will be able to reach speeds of up to 120 km/h once they are operational, guaranteeing smoother and quicker connectivity between areas.
Features And Infrastructure Plan
There are 14 crossings over state and national highways, 22 interchanges, 55 flyovers, and six road over bridges (ROBs) as part of the infrastructure plan. The expressway is anticipated to improve trade, economic growth, and local job opportunities by traversing underdeveloped Karnataka and drought-prone Maharashtra regions. Additionally, the expressway is expected to stimulate commercial and residential development along its path, which will benefit Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Bagalkot and Gadag, according to urban planners.
Pune–Bengaluru Expressway: Route Plan
The Pune–Bengaluru Expressway is a 700 km long, eight-lane, greenfield access-controlled highway that runs through Karnataka and Maharashtra. The Bharatmala Pariyojna Phase 2 greenfield expressway will run parallel to National Highway 48. Additionally, the Greenfield Expressway will provide a quicker and alternate route to the NH-48.
The Maharashtra state: The Pune–Bengaluru Expressway begins on the proposed Pune ring road in Kanjle. It passes through Maharashtra's Pune, Satara, and Sangli districts before entering the state of Karnataka.
In Karnataka: This motorway travels through the Karnataka districts of Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Gadag, Koppal, Vijayanagara, Davanagere, and Chitradurga. In the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region, the expressway ends at the proposed Satellite Ring Road.
Through strategic alignment, the Pune-Bengaluru Expressway hopes to become a vital economic corridor that makes commuting easier for both logistics companies and passengers.
