Patna News: Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Lead INDIA Bloc March Against EC's Voter List 'Votebandi'

A massive political showdown unfolded in Patna as senior leaders of the INDIA alliance, including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, led a protest march against the Election Commission’s ongoing voter list verification process. Termed as “votebandi” by opposition leaders, the drive is being criticized as an attempt to exclude marginalized communities from the electoral rolls in the run-up to the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The protest, organized by the Mahagathbandhan, saw participation from Congress, RJD, CPI(ML), and VIP party leaders, with a full bandh observed across all 38 districts of Bihar. Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav were seen standing atop a truck rallying supporters, while slogans like “Save the Vote, Remove the Government” echoed through the streets.Security was tight, with police barricades set up to prevent the procession from reaching the Election Commission office. Protesters argue that the same voter list was used during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and question the urgency and timing of the revision. The opposition alleges the move is being orchestrated at the behest of the BJP to influence upcoming elections. The rally marks one of the strongest displays of opposition unity in Bihar in recent times.
