Chhattisgarh: Twelve Maoists, including 9 carrying Rs 28.50L bounty surrender; total crosses 1,000 under ‘Lon Varratu’ rehabilitation drive

In Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, twelve Naxalites surrendered to authorities, marking over 1,000 surrenders under the 'Lon Varratu' campaign since June 2020. Disillusionment with Maoist ideology and difficult forest life were cited as reasons. Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai highlighted the government's commitment to rehabilitate misguided youth. Among those surrendering, nine had bounties totaling Rs 28.
