Manchester United to sign Milton Delgado after Bryan Mbuemo deal? Who is the Argentine CDM that Ruben Amorim may get this summer?

Manchester United have reportedly identified 20-year-old Argentina midfielder Milton Delgado as a summer transfer target. Several news outlets suggested that the Boca Juniors star has a strong chance of becoming a Red Devil this summer. Ruben Amorim-managed United is expected to make a move once the Bryan Mbuemo deal is sealed.
A lesser-known fact about the youngster is that the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES), an independent Swiss think tank, named Delgado the "Best U-20 defensive midfielder in the world." He reportedly topped a list of players born after 2005 across the 65 most competitive leagues globally.

A product of the Boca Juniors youth system, Milton Delgado primarily plays as a central defensive midfielder. He's known for his technical abilities, passing, and man-marking skills, and is also part of the Argentina U20 setup.
Delgado established himself as a part of the Boca squad in 2024 during Fernando Gago's tenure. Since his debut in a goalless draw in a continental fixture, he was frequently given opportunities by the manager, which helped him gain the attention of the Argentina U20 management. The Rafael Castillo-born player has so far played 30 games for the Boca senior team, scoring a solitary goal.

Attending the U20 national camp with Argentina appears to be a turning point in Delgado's career, as it caused him to miss the club's pre-season under new manager Miguel Angel Russo. He is reportedly not part of Russo's plans currently and didn't feature in a single FIFA Club World Cup match in the United States.
Sensing an opportunity, many teams have approached Boca to sign the young midfielder, whose market value is said to be around €5.5 million. Boca Juniors will not sell their player to any Argentine rivals and prefer bids from abroad, particularly from Europe. Reports suggest the Buenos Aires team expects a transfer sum well over Delgado's estimated market price, as he is contracted until 2028.

This is reportedly why they turned down a €5.5 million bid from Inter Milan last month. However, European sports portals claim United have a realistic shot at signing the talented player. The Xeneize can expect the first bid from the Premier League side in a matter of days, they added. However, there are no credible reports on the financial details of Old Trafford's plans to link the Argentine sensation with Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo.
