Rodrygo transfer: How much money will Arsenal offer Real Madrid to sign Brazilian as PSG enter race?

Arsenal remain confident despite Paris Saint-Germain entering the race for Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes, football transfer experts in England claimed. Mikel Arteta's team was reportedly well ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the contest to sign the unsettled Brazilian, but PSG's entry could significantly change the scenario.

While the reigning European champions PSG are cash-rich, Real Madrid are reportedly more interested in a player-swap-plus-money deal with them. Los Blancos believe this is their best chance to acquire the talented Portuguese midfielder Vitinha from the Parisians.

Real Madrid want Vitinha for Rodrygo

Vitinha, who is in excellent form, is highly rated by Real Madrid. Like Rodrygo, the 25-year-old midfielder is expected to command a price well over €90 million. Xabi Alonso-managed Real hope to secure a considerable discount on this asking price by including Rodrygo in the equation. However, if Luis Enrique insists he cannot let Vitinha leave his squad this summer, the entire conversation could collapse instantly. Multiple reports claim that the only way Real Madrid would allow the Brazilian to join PSG is in exchange for Vitinha. This situation could see Arsenal return to pole position in the race.

Arsenal remain confident

It was reported last week by AS that Arsenal are very serious about bringing the 24-year-old Brazilian to London, to the extent that they are open to paying more than Real Madrid's asking price of €90 million. They are well clear of the Premier League's PSR sanctions despite multiple big-money signings this season and reportedly wouldn't mind spending more on Viktor Gyökeres and Rodrygo.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is willing to let Rodrygo operate on Arsenal's left wing, which is his preferred position. The versatile attacker is effective on either wing and can even play as a striker when needed. To accommodate Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Jr, former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti often deployed Rodrygo on the right. His successor, Xabi Alonso, has also asked Rodrygo to operate on the right wing during the FIFA Club World Cup. The fine form of Brahim Díaz and Arda Güler has not helped Rodrygo's cause either, compelling him to seek alternatives outside Madrid this summer.
