Demand for Indore-Darbhanga superfast

Meanwhile, ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled in November 2025, the North-East Cultural Institute, Madhya Pradesh, has once again raised the long-pending demand for a direct Indore-Darbhanga superfast train.

The institute’s president, Thakur Jagdish Singh, has submitted a letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging the introduction of a direct train between Indore and Darbhanga. He stated that lakhs of migrants from North Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh live in Indore and would greatly benefit from this route.

He also mentioned that this proposed train would serve as a cultural and economic link between the regions of Malwa (in MP) and Mithila (in Bihar). In the past, the institute has also requested new trains from Indore to Bhagalpur and Ranchi.
