UP Weather, Rain Alert 9 July: Heavy rain is occurring due to the ongoing monsoon across the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the areas of western Uttar Pradesh for the next five days. Also, the Meteorological Department has predicted the continuation of active monsoon in the central parts during the next four to five days. Apart from this, today on July 9, an alert has been issued for extremely heavy rain at some places in South-East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh.
Talking about eastern and central India, Madhya Pradesh is going to receive very heavy rains during 9-15th, Vidarbha during 9-11th, Chhattisgarh during 9-11th, 14th and 15th July, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim on 9th and 13th July, Gangetic West Bengal on 9th and 14th, Jharkhand on 9th and 10th, Odisha between 13th and 15th July.
Talking about the states of northwest India, during 9-15th July, eastern Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on 9th and 10th July, Himachal Pradesh during 9th, 10th and 13-15th July, western Uttar Pradesh during 9-13th July, eastern Uttar Pradesh during 9-11th July, western Rajasthan during 12-15th July will receive heavy rains at isolated places. Apart from this, very heavy rains have been predicted in Uttarakhand, UP, Punjab, Haryana on 9th July. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected at isolated places over Konkan, Goa, Gujarat during July 9-15, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 9 and 10, and Saurashtra and Kutch on July 12 and 13.
Meteorological Department’s red alert in Nagpur, schools and colleges closed
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in Nagpur district of Maharashtra, anticipating heavy rains. Giving this information, officials said that in view of the red alert, a holiday has been declared in all schools and colleges here on Wednesday. According to the District Information Office, some state highways in Nagpur have been closed for traffic due to the overflowing of rivers and streams after heavy rains for the last few days. The IMD on Wednesday issued a ‘red alert’ for Nagpur and Wardha districts of Vidarbha region, ‘orange alert’ for Amravati and Yavatmal and ‘yellow alert’ for Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Gondia.
