Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Launched: Slimmer, Brighter, Gemini AI-er. Check Out Top Features

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8: Samsung lifted the veil off its new Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic models at Galaxy Unpacked, offering a refined design, personalised wellness insights, and deeper AI integration — all packed into its slimmest wearables yet.

The Galaxy Watch 8 series inherits the cushioned design first seen in the Galaxy Watch Ultra, but goes a step further — literally slimming things down. Samsung says the Watch 8 is its thinnest and most comfortable smartwatch yet, with a 30% improvement in component mounting that helps shave down the profile by 11%. This reengineering, combined with a new Dynamic Lug system that adapts to wrist movement, not only improves fit but also enhances the accuracy of health monitoring.

The display is 50% brighter with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, meaning outdoor visibility shouldn’t be an issue. The dual-frequency GPS offers pinpoint location tracking, while a new 3nm processor promises faster performance with better power efficiency. And with an upgraded BioActive Sensor onboard, the Watch 8 provides more precise and deeper health insights than ever before.

Revolutionising Wellness, One Night at a Time

Samsung continues its focus on sleep as a window into overall health. The Watch 8 comes packed with tools to support better rest, including circadian rhythm-based Bedtime Guidance and Vascular Load tracking to monitor cardiovascular stress during sleep. Samsung Health also adds new features to help users build lasting habits across sleep, nutrition, and exercise.

The Watch 8 introduces an industry-first Antioxidant Index to track carotenoid levels — a useful marker for healthy ageing — in just five seconds. For runners, the Running Coach provides customised training plans and real-time encouragement based on fitness level. Users can even challenge friends via the updated Together feature.

If stress takes over, features like High Stress Alert and Mindfulness Tracker prompt users to pause, reflect, and reset. Samsung’s new Energy Score also delivers a daily snapshot of both physical and mental energy.

Gemini AI Comes to the Wrist

Samsung’s partnership with Google has resulted in the Galaxy Watch 8 becoming the first smartwatch to ship with Gemini AI built in and running on Wear OS 6. Users can now ask Gemini to find a coffee shop, send a text, or start a workout — all using natural voice prompts.

The new One UI 8 Watch interface has been optimised to make navigation smoother, with features like Multi-Info Tiles, Now Bar, and redesigned notifications for easier access to key info like health metrics and upcoming events.

Options for Every Lifestyle

Both the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic will be available starting July 25, with pre-orders open now. The Watch 8, aimed at everyday users, comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes in Graphite and Silver. The Watch 8 Classic retains the beloved rotating bezel and comes in 46mm Black or White variants.

For those with rugged needs, the Galaxy Watch Ultra — Samsung’s most durable model — is available in new Titanium finishes, including Blue. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Ring offers a more discreet health-tracking alternative with up to seven days of battery life.

“We are committed to empowering billions of people to live healthier lives through our innovative technology,” said TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “By combining purposeful design with advanced sensor technology and an intuitive AI-powered experience, the Galaxy Watch 8 series serves as a starting point for a healthier, more connected life, making it easier than ever to take meaningful steps toward users’ well-being.”
