Local bodies conference in Gurugram will pave way for developed India: Kalyan
Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan today said the primary objective of the National Conference of Urban Local Bodies, held in Gurugram, was to highlight the role of urban local bodies in realising the vision of a developed India by 2047.
He said the conference, by fostering responsible dialogue within smaller legislative institutions, would contribute to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of “Viksit Bharat 2047”. The conference witnessed participation from experts and policymakers associated with urban planning and development. As a result, it became a platform for direct interaction between senior public representatives and experts, he said.
Kalyan was addressing a press conference at Haryana Niwas in Sector 3, Chandigarh, on Wednesday. He said during the conference, there was a renewed commitment to promote AI technology-based innovations in the urban local body administration, to encourage innovation, transparency and public participation. “Thus, this conference has been a historic step towards further strengthening the country’s democratic framework. A resolution on this subject was also passed during the All India Presiding Officers’ Conference held this year in Patna,” he said.
Kalyan said in the country’s first national conference of its kind, several Mayors, chairpersons and officials from Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Municipalities shared the best development models and innovations implemented in their respective regions. Mayors/Commissioners of Indore, Lucknow, Pune, Surat, and Visakhapatnam gave presentations on their outstanding work and achievements related to clean and green cities, he said. These presentations would prove helpful for all participants, he said.
