Breaking: ED Cracks Down on 29 Film Celebrities in Betting App Scam Including Vijay Deverakonda, Prakash Raj
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a probe into 29 prominent film personalities allegedly involved in promoting illegal betting apps. Among those under scrutiny are major Tollywood stars like Vijay Deverakonda, Manchu Lakshmi, and Prakash Raj. Actresses Nidhhi Agerwal, Ananya Nagalla, and Shimukhi are also named in the case. The investigation stems from a complaint lodged at Cyberabad Police Station on March 19, where 25 celebrities and several well-known YouTubers and Instagram influencers were accused of promoting unauthorized betting platforms. These individuals allegedly used their popularity to endorse and attract users to these illegal apps. Following the FIR, the ED has taken over the case, registering it under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency is currently examining the nature and extent of the involvement of these celebrities, especially in monetary transactions linked to the promotion of betting platforms. Most of the accused belong to the South Indian film industry, particularly Tollywood. This crackdown marks a significant move by authorities to curb digital gambling scams and hold influencers accountable for misleading promotions.
