Delhi Drenched: Monsoon Rains Expose City’s Weak Drainage System | ABP NEWS

Delhi, the capital of India, experienced heavy rainfall last night, leaving the entire city and its surrounding NCR (National Capital Region) drenched. What was supposed to be a refreshing monsoon shower quickly turned into chaos, as several parts of the city faced severe waterlogging. Despite repeated assurances from civic authorities about preparedness, the rains laid bare the inefficiencies in the drainage system. Areas like Dholakuan and other low-lying zones were particularly hit, with roads submerged under knee-deep water. Residents had to wade through flooded streets, and vehicular movement slowed to a crawl. For many, a short spell of rain was enough to disrupt daily life and highlight the lack of proper infrastructure maintenance. This is not the first time Delhi has witnessed such scenes during monsoon, but this time the intensity and immediate impact seemed far worse. Locals expressed frustration, pointing out that every year the same problems repeat without any lasting solution. The first major monsoon shower of the season has once again exposed the gaps in urban planning, leaving citizens to deal with the consequences.
