Parkinson’s disease: Common cough syrup revealed to slow down cognitive decline and dementia

A recent phase 2 clinical trial reveals that Ambroxol, a common cough medicine, shows promise in stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and potentially slowing cognitive decline in Parkinson's disease dementia (PDD) patients. The study demonstrated symptom stabilization and potential cognitive improvements, particularly in individuals with GBA1 risk variants. Larger Phase 3 trials are planned to further evaluate these findings.
