'Narivetta' OTT release: Tovino Thomas’ action drama to arrive on this platform

Tovino Thomas-starrer Narivetta, a film rooted in real-life events, is set to make its digital debut this week, much to the delight of those who missed its theatrical release. Streaming platform SonyLIV announced that the action-packed drama will be available from July 11, seven weeks after its theatrical release.
The Malayalam flick revolves around the 2003 Muthanga incident, where the Kerala Police were accused of firing on the marginalised Adivasis in Wayanad, who gathered in protest over the land allocation dispute. Helmed by Anuraj Manohar, the film also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Cheran, Arya Salim, and Priyamvada Krishnan.
In its review of the film, THE WEEK wrote, “There is no doubt about this being an emotionally stirring film. There is one moment towards the end that got my eyes welled up. It goes without saying that Ishq and Narivetta are solid testaments to the fact that Anuraj is a filmmaker worth his salt. But at the same time, I've to admit that I felt the film sorely lacking a wow factor. If it was intended to disturb the comfortable, that it does. But I couldn't also help shake the feeling that most of it feels familiar and a bit... generic.”
