IN PICS: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates Sindoor Bridge In Mumbai
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the renovated Carnac Bridge, now named the Sindoor Flyover, on July 10 around 10 AM.
The Sindoor Flyover aims to improve East-West traffic movement in South Mumbai and is expected to open for vehicular traffic by 3 PM the same day.
Previously known as Carnac Bridge, the name was changed to Sindoor Flyover under 'Operation Sindoor'.
The flyover connects the eastern P D’Mello Road with major commercial hubs like Crawford Market, Kalbadevi, and Mohammad Ali Road in western South Mumbai.
It is located near Masjid Bunder railway station, enhancing connectivity across a dense commercial zone.
The original Carnac Bridge, which was over 150 years old, was dismantled in August 2022 due to safety issues.
The project was overseen by additional municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar and completed by June 10, ahead of its inauguration.
