DTU Narela Campus to set up new research park to expand Digital Education

New Delhi: Vice Chancellor of Delhi Technological University (DTU) Prateek Sharma has announced a host of initiatives, which include a Research Park at its campus in Narela, as well as expanded outreach through education and fresh global collaborations. The Vice Chancellor has announced these initiatives aiming to transform the institution into a hub of inclusive and future-ready learning.

What was the official announcement?

At a press conference, Sharma mentioned “Knowledge is the basic goal of our university. We are starting a computer literacy initiative in five villages to promote digital inclusion.” The university has signed memorandums of understanding with the University of Houston in the USA in order to facilitate student exchange programmes. It did the same with the South Asian University (SAU) to enhance regional academic cooperation. All of this was done as part of the university’s global outreach program.

New Developments in the campus –

To align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Three new undergraduate BTech programs have been launched by DTU, focused on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.

A new department called the Interdisciplinary Department of Geospatial Science and Technology has also been established. “The very spirit of NEP is to design an individual-specific syllabus. We are also reaching out to industries to bridge the gap between teaching and real-world demands,” Sharma said

DTU has also set up a state-of-the-art laboratory in order to support research and development in collaboration with industries.

Prateek Sharma highlighted on the University’s focus on accessibility, and announced the expansion of the unniversity’s online education system that offers certificate courses ranging from a week to several months long. He said “why should quality education be available only to those who crack entrance exams? Many students face barriers beyond their control. We aim to reach the masses.”

Government Collaborations:

Key environmental initiatives are also being looked upon by DTU. A department of the university, named the Environment Sciences department is actively involved in the Yamuna. Rejuvenation efforts of the Delhi government, as well NDMC’s flood mitigation work at ITO.

A proposal to work on pollution control has been submitted by the university to the Lieutenant Governor. DTU will also benefit with the help of an MoU with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and would assist it in establishing a center to assess safety in road tunnels longer than1.5 kilometres The University has also shared updates on the admission process of the academic year 2025-26, R&D efforts with start-ups, and interdisciplinary education models in line with NEP 2020.
