Tennis Player Shot Dead By Father In Gurugram Over 'Reel Addiction', Accused Arrested

A 25-year-old state-level tennis player, Radhika Yadav, was fatally shot inside her residence in Gurugram’s Sector 57 on Wednesday. According to ANI, Gurugram Police have arrested her father, who has been accused of shooting her with his licensed revolver. Sandeep Kumar, PRO of Gurugram Police, confirmed that a case is being registered and the father is in custody. The incident reportedly took place around noon.

As per NDTV, the father allegedly fired five rounds at his daughter, of which three struck her. The horrifying incident unfolded at their home in Sushant Lok Phase 2, where the victim lived. The police have seized the weapon used in the crime, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are probing the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Obsession with Instagram Reels An Alleged Motive 

Preliminary reports suggest that the father was reportedly upset with his daughter’s frequent use of Instagram, particularly her ‘addiction to making reels’, as per NDTV's report. This alleged dispute appears to have escalated into a deadly confrontation.

Police are yet to confirm the exact sequence of events leading up to the shooting.
