Mumbai News: ‘Water Travel From Borivali To Gorai In Just 15 Minutes,’ Says Minister Nitesh Rane; Lays Foundation Stone For Borivali Ro-Ro Jetty (VIDEO)
Mumbai: In a significant step towards enhancing water transport connectivity in Mumbai, the foundation stone for Phase 1 of the Borivali Ro-Ro Jetty was laid today by Maharashtra’s Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development, Nitesh Rane.
This jetty is expected to transform local travel by reducing the travel time between Borivali and Gorai from the current 1.5 hours to just 15 minutes via waterway.
Minister Rane assured that the construction of the jetty will be completed with high standards and within the stipulated time frame. He also expressed confidence that the Ro-Ro service will soon be operational for public use.
The event was attended by former MP Gopal Shetty, local MLA Sanjay Upadhyay, BJP district president Bala Tawde, local residents, and members of the fishing community.
The Borivali Ro-Ro Jetty project has received the green signal from both the central and state governments, aiming to boost tourism and improve local transport. The ambitious project is being implemented under the Central Government’s Sagarmala initiative.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Rane emphasized that projects inaugurated under the BJP-led government are seen through to completion. Referring to the Borivali Ro-Ro project, he stated that it will offer metro-like connectivity on water across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
“Just like Mumbai has a metro system, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis envisions a Water Metro system for the MMR. We are working in that direction, and the Mahayuti government is committed to the comprehensive development of Mumbai,” said Rane.
