Ladakh all set to welcome Dalai Lama as he begins month-long visit on July 12
Ladakh is all set to welcome the Dalai Lama on Saturday where he will stay for a period of nearly one month. The UT administration and police has made elaborate arrangements for the visit of the Buddhist spiritual leader, who will also deliver sermons to his followers.
Leh Deputy Commissioner Romil Singh Donk along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Mohd and SSP Shruti Arora visited Jivetsal at Choglamsar to review the ongoing preparations ahead of the visit.
The DC reviewed and inspected all preparations at the residence of the Dalai Lama and the teaching area. He also inspected the installation of public washroom facilities and CCTV cameras in different area for public safety and security. He further examined the different parking sites in the area, checking for space availability and ways to make the areas more organised for devotees/visitors.
Donk also discussed ways to improve traffic flow in the area during the teachings. He also spoke about administration’s commitment to creating safe and hygienic spaces for the public. He encouraged close coordination between departments to ensure that all works are carried out efficiently and on time to have smooth management of essential facilities during the period of His Holiness visit.
