Drunk school bus driver arrested
A school bus driver in the city was caught driving under the influence of alcohol on Friday. The police and traffic departments took swift action after receiving a tip-off about the incident. Acting immediately, a police team reached the spot, detained the driver and issued a challan for drunk driving. The school bus was also impounded.
The driver, Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Chapla Mori village, Fatehabad, was tested with a breath analyser, which confirmed he had consumed alcohol. He was taken into custody under Section 172(2) of the BNS and booked under drunk driving laws.
The incident involved a bus belonging to a private school. The police have also issued a notice to the school administration for allowing such a serious lapse. Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain instructed strict and immediate action in the case. He said, “Putting children’s lives at risk will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of City police station in-charge Surendra. The police have urged school authorities, parents and the public to report any such unsafe behaviour immediately to ensure the safety of children.
